Llechwedd Slate Caverns, Blaenau Ffestiniog. Explore an old mining village, and enjoy two exciting underground rides.
National Slate Museum, Llanberis. Free entry to this iconic museum. See how slate miners worked and lived, with live demonstrations of slate cutting and splitting. On certain days, visit the Miner's Hospital, and see the primitive medical care available for the miners!
Electric Mountain, also in Llanberis. Visit a hydro-electric power station built inside a mountain!
Whether you are a fan or not of the sixties TV series The Prisoner, a visit to Portmeirion is highly advised. A full day can be spent exploring the amazing Italianate village and extensive grounds.
The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways add up to in excess of 50 miles of narrow gauge railway, with stunning views of Snowdonia.
The National Trust have a large collection of houses and gardens in North Wales, most just a short drive from Criccieth.
